Protection of Children’s Rights

Implementation Period: May – November 2017

ASET Center, supported by “Save the Children” in partnership with “Terre des homes” in Albania, funded by the European Union, under the grant scheme of the project “Inclusion of Civil Society for the Protection of Children’s Rights in Albania,” implemented the project: “Protection of Children’s Rights. Compasito Method – an interactive training method for children and professionals of the Children’s Centers for Street Children.”

This project benefited the capacity building of professionals from the four “Children’s Centers for Street Children” in the cities of Tirana and Shkodra. One of the project’s objectives was to raise awareness among actors providing social care services to increase children’s participation in decision-making while respecting their rights and involving children in decision-making.

The staff of the centers for street children and the children receiving services from these centers were trained to continuously collaborate in identifying child rights protection issues, the most appropriate ways to manage cases while considering any phenomenon presented by the children, and the interaction methods between the staff and children during the early signs of social problems.

This project, through raising awareness of public structures at central and local levels, through the distribution of training modules and brochures, improved the quality of social services provided in these community centers. The staff of the centers was trained to continuously serve as professionals responsible for monitoring the effectiveness of the child rights protection approach in the centers for street children.

After the project ended, the Compasito manuals adapted for the Children’s Centers for Street Children were adopted by the staff, and Compasito games were included in the monthly work plans of these centers.
