ASET Center is implementing the project “Albania Embroidered with Memory”, an initiative aimed at preserving, documenting, and promoting Albania’s intangible cultural heritage, with a particular focus on traditional costumes as an integral part of the country’s national identity and as a valuable asset for the development of cultural tourism. The project is being implemented in Tirana over a four-month period and seeks to establish a modern promotional model that combines culture, technology, and youth engagement, while increasing the accessibility of Albania’s cultural heritage for both domestic and international audiences.
At the core of the project is the development of the English-language electronic album “Albania Embroidered with Memory”, which compiles historical, ethnographic, and cultural information covering all Albanian regions. The album presents traditional costumes as living testimonies of the history, traditions, and identity of each region and is freely accessible through the ASET website and a QR code, providing both domestic and international tourists with a reliable source of information on Albania’s cultural heritage.
An important component of the project is youth empowerment. A group of young people has been trained and engaged as cultural guides, dressed in traditional Albanian costumes, to promote the country’s history and culture at the main tourist attractions in Tirana. In addition to guided tours and the distribution of promotional materials featuring a QR code, the project also implements a dedicated social media campaign.
The project will conclude with a national event dedicated to Albania’s intangible cultural heritage, during which traditional costumes from different Albanian regions, multimedia materials, and the project’s achievements will be presented. Through this initiative, ASET aims to contribute to the preservation of cultural memory, increase public awareness, promote Albania as a cultural tourism destination, and establish a sustainable model that can serve as a reference for future initiatives in the fields of culture and tourism.
