Global Citizenship Education aims to develop an understanding of global issues, the interdependence between local and global levels, as well as active civic participation. The ASET Center, through the “E.C.O CLUB” project, addresses climate change not only as an environmental problem, but also as a challenge of social justice, sustainable development, and intergenerational responsibility.
In the first week of February 2026, the E.C.O CLUB was established with 30 students at the “Sami Frashëri” school, which will be led by the students themselves, where they will be involved in interactive training, dialogue, and concrete action. This approach transforms passive concern into active and responsible global citizenship. The formation of this group marks an important step towards building a new generation of leaders who understand the connection between global challenges and local action.
Through the E.C.O CLUB, ASET aims to empower students with skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, and civic engagement. The project promotes youth leadership, increases public awareness, and encourages responsible environmental behavior. By building cooperation among schools, the community, and institutions, young people. During the past months, the training sessions with the 30 student members of the E.C.O CLUB have been successfully conducted and completed. Through interactive training sessions, students have gained knowledge about climate change, sustainable development, and the role of young citizens in protecting the environment. The trainings have included group discussions, practical exercises, and reflective activities, helping students develop critical thinking and identify concrete ways to contribute to their community through sustainable actions.
This project is implemented within the framework of the #GearUp! project, funded by the European Union (EU DEAR Programme) and implemented in partnership with the Adriatic Ionian Euroregion (AIE). Through this support, the initiative is included in a broader European framework that promotes Global Citizenship Education, strengthens youth participation, and raises awareness of global challenges, including climate change.
