GEAR UP – E.C.O. CLUB

Global Citizenship Education aims to develop an understanding of global issues, the interdependence between local and global levels, as well as active civic participation. The ASET Center, through the “E.C.O CLUB” project, addresses climate change not only as an environmental problem, but also as a challenge of social justice, sustainable development, and intergenerational responsibility.

In February 2026, the E.C.O CLUB was established with 30 students at the “Sami Frashëri” school, a group led by the youth themselves and engaged in interactive training, dialogue, and concrete action. This initiative aims to transform passive awareness into active and responsible civic participation, contributing to the formation of a new generation of leaders who understand the connection between global challenges and local action.

Through this project, students have been empowered with essential skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, and civic engagement. The trainings conducted have been interactive and practical, including group discussions, hands-on exercises, and reflective activities. Through these, students have gained knowledge about climate change, sustainable development, and their role in environmental protection.

Additionally, four workshop days with different themes have been organized, where students have carried out creative and practical work, reflecting on environmental challenges and proposing concrete solutions. These activities have helped strengthen knowledge on Global Citizenship and develop skills to express ideas and actively contribute to the community.

The project is implemented within the framework of the #GearUp! initiative, funded by the European Union and in partnership with the Adriatic Ionian Euroregion, becoming part of a broader effort to promote Global Citizenship Education and raise awareness of global challenges.
