Implementation Period: March 2021 – December 2024
ASET Center, in partnership with Tirana Regional Council and funded by the social fund from the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, has identified and provided services to more than 300 elderly people in the Tirana region. The center continues its home assistance activities, focusing on elderly individuals who are lonely or facing severe socio-economic issues.
For four years, ASET Center has been providing integrated social and healthcare services to lonely and needy elderly individuals in their homes, offering sustainable and continuous care.
This service is offered as an integrated, unique, and specialized service, which is highly necessary for Tirana, a city that has undergone comprehensive development, is heterogeneous, and overpopulated, where lonely elderly individuals are a socially and economically vulnerable group, especially in a reality where the traditional family is experiencing its own “crisis.”
The establishment of a home-based service that is unique, specialized, sustainable, and efficient, available at all times and not just during specific periods, consists of quality services based on the standards approved by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection. The service is provided through professional figures such as social workers, psychologists, and nurses.
Through this service, the quality of life for 300 elderly individuals has been improved, providing them with support to be as autonomous as possible and encouraging opportunities for them to reach their full potential. The continuous presence of a social worker has helped them recover and improve their status while living in their own homes and avoiding institutionalization. The project has successfully created a new model for home assistance, offering support and care for those most in need, particularly the elderly.
