Implementation Period: January–December 2024
ASET Center, in partnership with Tirana District Council, with funding from the social fund provided by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, has identified and provided services for over 300 elderly individuals in the Tirana District and continues its home assistance activities, dedicating services to elderly individuals who are lonely and facing severe socio-economic issues.
For the past four years, ASET Center has been offering integrated social and health services to support lonely and needy elderly individuals in their homes, providing sustainable and continuous care.
This service is offered as an integrated, unique, and specialized service, which is highly necessary for Tirana, a city that has experienced comprehensive development and is heterogeneous and overpopulated, where lonely elderly individuals are a vulnerable group socially and economically, in a reality where the traditional family is undergoing its own “crisis.”
The establishment of a home service, which is unique, specialized, and sustainable, ready to be offered at any time and not just during specific periods, consists of high-quality services based on the Standards approved by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection. The service is provided through professional figures such as social workers, psychologists, and nurses.
It has now been achieved that, through the service, we have improved the quality of life for 300 elderly individuals and provided support to help them be as autonomous as possible, encouraging opportunities for them to realize their full potential. The constant presence of a social worker has helped them recover and improve their status by living in their own homes and avoiding institutionalization. The project has succeeded in creating a new model for home assistance, offering support and care to those who need it most, especially the elderly.
