Aset Center started its activities in 2015 with the project “For Children, with Children at Risk.” With financial support from the “Agency for Support of Civil Society,” it piloted the “Compasito” program in social care centers in Saranda and Tirana.
In 2017, Aset Center, supported by “Save the Children” and in partnership with “Terre des Hommes” in Albania, funded by the European Union, implemented the project “Protection of Children’s Rights.” This project helped improve the skills of professionals at four “Children in Street Situations” centers in Tirana and Shkodra.
With support from Tirana Municipality, Aset Center established a tradition called “Tirana Dressed in Folk Costumes” from 2018 to 2019. This project promotes tourism and national cultural values, using young guides in traditional costumes to attract visitors to Tirana.
In 2018-2019, with UNDP support and in partnership with the Tirana Municipality, the Aset Center developed the first model of home assistance services in Albania through the project “Innovative Social Services for Elderly in Need.” They created manuals and work protocols to standardize this service.
As part of the project “Raising Awareness and Strengthening Capacities in Alternative Care Services,” funded by the European Union, Aset Center promoted foster care services between 2019 and 2020 by increasing public awareness to ensure quality services for children without parental care.
In 2020, for the 100th anniversary of Tirana as the capital, Aset Center launched the project “Tirana 100 Years Capital, Folklore and Tradition” with Tirana Municipality. This project aimed to promote the culture and traditions of Tirana, especially among young people, offering tourists a unique experience with young guides in traditional costumes.
In October 2020, with support from Tirana Municipality, the project “Tirana – 100 Year Capital – Between Cuisine and Ethnography” combined two important elements for promoting tourism: cuisine and ethnography. Traditional dishes from Tirana were presented at the New Bazaar, attracting visitors.
In 2020, with financial support from the “Albanian Center for Population and Development,” Aset Center piloted the project “Aging with Dignity, Care is Our Duty,” focusing on respect for elderly dignity and improving their social integration, especially after the Covid-19 pandemic. A key component was creating a new curriculum to train social workers.
In 2021-2022, Aset Center, supported by Tirana Municipality, launched the “You Are Not Alone” project to improve the quality of life for elderly people through home assistance services. This project provided continuous support and care according to national social protection standards.
After the Covid-19 pandemic, in 2021, Aset Center identified the need for special support for elderly people and those with disabilities. Through the project “Together for Post-Covid-19,” funded by the Agency for Support of Civil Society, they offered online counseling and psychosocial therapy from 2021 to 2022.
In 2022, with support from UNDP and in partnership with the municipalities of Durrës and Kavajë, Aset Center provided home assistance to vulnerable individuals affected by the November 2019 earthquake, helping families in need with care services and access to healthcare.
From 2022 to 2023, with UNICEF support, Aset Center contributed to the reform of disability assessment according to a biopsychosocial model through the project “Local Professionals Understand Disability Sensitivity in Social Protection.”
In 2022, Aset Center launched the project “From Tirana to Europe – Youth Guide on the History and Tradition of the Capital of Youth,” funded by the National Youth Congress, to promote Tirana’s rich history and cultural heritage.
In September 2022, in partnership with Tirana Municipality, Aset Center created the first Religious Tourist Guide in Albania, promoting religious coexistence.
In 2022, Aset Center, supported by UNICEF and Ministry of Health and Social Protection, started implementing the reform of disability assessment, aiming to shift from a medical approach to a biopsychosocial approach.
In partnership with Tirana Municipality, in 2023, Aset Center continued promoting Tirana’s rich cultural heritage through youth-led guided tours in traditional costumes.
In December 2023, with funding from Tirana Municipality, the project “Tirana of Tradition and Cultural Heritage” aimed to preserve traditional artisan skills passed down from older generations.
For the past four years (2021-2024), Aset Center has provided integrated social and health services to elderly people in need, offering continuous care at home. They have served over 300 elderly individuals in Tirana.
Aset Center has extensive experience in training, especially in the health and social sectors, improving the skills of various professionals. They have organized training for family doctors and staff involved in disability assessment reform.
All these trainings have been accredited, ensuring high quality and allowing health professionals to gain credits for their professional development.
