Tirana 100 years as a capital, folklore and tradition

Implementation period: February – April 2020

With the support of  Municipality of Tirana, as part of the celebrations for the 100th anniversary of Tirana being declared the capital,  ASET Center carried out a project aimed at promoting the tradition and culture of the capital, particularly by involving the youth. The goal was to provide a unique and authentic experience for tourists, presenting them with a vibrant image of Albanian tradition. For this purpose, young people were dressed in traditional costumes representing different regions of the country and their unique traditions. With a deep knowledge of Albanian history and ethnography, these young people became ambassadors of cultural heritage, offering tourists a special journey through time.

Over the past 100 years, Tirana has undergone a major transformation, becoming a key political, cultural, and social center for Albania. From a small town with provincial characteristics, it has transformed into a dynamic metropolis, encompassing a rich mosaic of traditions and modern developments. Tirana has been and remains a place where various historical and cultural influences collide, giving the city a unique character. From the historic buildings in Ottoman and Italian styles, which still stand as a testament to the past, to modern public spaces, the city reflects a deep history of transformations and developments representing Albania’s journey towards modernity.

A detailed brochure was produced, which included information about the 100-year history of the capital and descriptions of traditional costumes. This brochure was a valuable resource for tourists, as it allowed them to learn more about the history of the capital and appreciate the depth of Albanian traditions. Through this informative material, ASET aimed to stimulate more interest in Albanian culture and tradition, offering tourists a lively and attractive perspective on Tirana’s journey.
