Implementation period: May-August 2018, February-June 2019
With the support of Municipality of Tirana, ASET Center, starting from 2018, has established an important tradition, “Tirana dressed in traditional costumes,” contributing to the promotion of tourism and national cultural values. This project, which includes guided tours offered by young people dressed in traditional costumes, has had a deep impact on increasing the attractiveness of Tirana as a tourist destination. Visitors, who have the opportunity to learn about Albanian history and traditions through a visual and interactive presentation, experience a unique journey that goes beyond traditional tours.
The young people dressed in traditional Albanian costumes, who offer the guided tours, are not only presenters but also ambassadors of the country’s cultural heritage. Through this involvement, they not only provide information about the history of Albania but also encourage curiosity and respect for traditional costumes and local customs among visitors. The traditional costumes of the youth serve as an attractive and unique element, often becoming the subject of photographs and videos by tourists, which are widely shared on social media, creating an organic and powerful promotion of Albanian values.
This project has benefited from an integrated model of tourism and culture, where presenting historical values through traditional costumes creates a deeper and more impressive experience for tourists. The involvement of young people, in addition to bringing energy and enthusiasm to these tours, also brings them closer to their culture and traditions.
The project also has a direct impact on the local economy, as many tourists, after experiencing the beauty and originality of traditional Albanian costumes up close, show interest in taking a piece of this unique culture with them. This not only strengthens the emotional connection of visitors to Albanian traditions but also supports local small businesses that are engaged in producing artisanal clothing and traditional products.
