As part of the project “Support for an Inclusive and Accountable Social Protection System for Disability in Albania”, the ASET Center, in cooperation with UNICEF, implemented a comprehensive training program for key professionals involved in the assessment and support of persons with disabilities.
The trainings were conducted across 12 regions and involved over 122 professionals from 37 multidisciplinary commissions, including family doctors, medical specialists, social workers, and service operators. The modules were accredited and built on a bio-psycho-social approach, incorporating child-friendly techniques and the management of complex cases. Each module combined theoretical input with practical examples and interdisciplinary discussions to enhance professional collaboration.
In parallel, 649 employees from local government units (496 social administrators and 153 social workers) participated in online trainings focused on the development of Individual Support Plans and the monitoring of personal assistant services for persons with disabilities. For this purpose, practical guidelines, home visit protocols, and monitoring formats were developed and distributed, which have now been officially approved by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection.
The trainings were delivered by a group of experienced trainers in the field of disability, human rights, and social services. The modules were professionally structured, accredited by the relevant institutions, and tailored to the needs of participants, combining theoretical expertise with practical case studies and an interactive approach that encourages reflection and concrete application in practice.
Through this program, ASET has contributed to strengthening professional capacities at the national level, reinforcing the foundations for a fairer, more inclusive, and disability-sensitive system in Albania—particularly in the dignified and equal treatment of children and marginalized groups.
